Tehran, Baku to expand ties: Zarif

TEHRAN, Feb. 16 (MNA) – Iranian foreign minister expressed hope that in his visit to Baku, bilateral relations of Iran and Azerbaijan expand in economic, political, and cultural fields.

Mohammad Javad Zarif, who arrived in Baku last night, said Iran has extend the ties with neighbors further stressing that Tehran and Baku has exchanged more than 20 visits in Rouhani’s government in ministerial and presidential levels.

He added: “both countries have proper ground to cooperate in various fields of culture, politics, and economy and I hope this visit could contribute to resolve some bureaucratic obstacles and pave the way for further agreements and cooperation.”

Zarif is scheduled to visit his Azeri counterpart and Ilham Aliyev, the President of Republic of Azerbaijan .

He will also hold meetings with Azerbaijan Prime Minister and Azeri Speaker of Parliament.

Iranian FM will depart Baku for Minsk, Belarus, tonight.
